The pupil premium grant is a Department of Education funding scheme to help improve the life chances of pupils from a disadvantaged background. Funding is calculated on the basis of the number pupils who fall into a set of agreed categories, such as in receipt of Free School Meals and is allocated to the school along with the April budget.
